I have a few questions about a visa change and would like some advice.
I received a tenure-track offer from a new school and am about to start, and I have a few questions about the visa change.
My current school contract ends June 30th, and according to the offer letter, my start date at the new school is September 1st. If, before June 30th, my H-1B petition has been filed but not yet approved, I’d like to know if there would be any legal issue with staying in the U.S. during the roughly 2-month gap period (July–August).
If the petition has been filed, this is considered Pending and treated as maintaining lawful status. If the outcome is favorable, it will continue on seamlessly.
