I’ve completed 1 year of OPT and am now in a position to extend further. Since my major is in a STEM field, I’d like to extend for an additional 2 years.

First, you must have obtained work authorization through regular OPT and currently be working under it. This is because a STEM OPT extension application is only possible while your OPT work authorization is still active. You also need to hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in a STEM field. And of course, as a basic requirement, your major and your work must match.
