Can I document financial capacity myself for a marriage-based green card through a citizen spouse?
I’m trying to obtain a green card through marriage to a citizen. However, the citizen is currently unemployed, hasn’t filed taxes, and it’s difficult to demonstrate financial capacity.
In this situation, can I, the one being sponsored for the green card, demonstrate financial capacity myself?
If, when the citizen files taxes, the person being sponsored for the green card is listed as a dependent, this may be possible. It doesn’t matter whether the dependent is a green card holder or a citizen. Ultimately, this works because the couple files taxes together.
