A 14-year-old child missed their green card card renewal.
My whole family received our green cards. At the time, my son was about 3 months short of turning 14, so his fingerprints weren’t registered, and after he turned 14, we didn’t realize we needed to register fingerprints when applying for the green card card reissuance, so it was missed. He’s currently 16 and turns 17 in August — would it still be okay to apply for reissuance now?
On the USCIS I-90 application page, there are two menu options: ‘currently 14 and card expires before turning 16’ / ‘currently 14 and card expires after turning 16’ — my child is currently 16, so neither applies. Which category should we apply under?
The green card has a 10-year validity period.
It’s not a problem that the renewal is a bit late.
You can just renew now.
Since he’s between 16 and 17, not yet 17, you should probably select the option below:
‘Currently 14 and card expires after turning 16.’
Please keep this in mind.
