Could relying on public assistance cause a problem for a work-visa holder too?
I hold an H-1B work visa. I’ve received public assistance in the past — I’d like to know if a work-visa holder, not just a green card applicant, could face a problem for relying on public assistance.
Due to a Supreme Court ruling, the Trump administration’s rule counting food stamps, most Medicaid, housing assistance, and other public assistance — if used cumulatively for 12 months or more — also applies to work-visa holders like you.
