Does an E-2 spouse’s work authorization need to be applied for in advance from Korea?
My husband was approved for E-2 through consular processing in Korea, and I understand that as his spouse I’m allowed to work — so I plan to go straight to the U.S. and start working.
But I’d like to know if I can simply start working right away, and if not, where and how I should apply.
In other words, I’d like to know whether an E-2 spouse’s work authorization needs to be applied for in advance from Korea.
The spouse of an E-2 visa holder must apply for work authorization separately after arriving in the U.S. It cannot be applied for from Korea.
