How can a nurse who graduated abroad obtain a work visa?
I’d like to know the eligibility requirements for a nurse who graduated abroad to obtain a work visa.
For example, I’d like to know whether there are specific English test score or experience requirements beyond an RN license, and whether, once hired by a hospital, filing for a work visa in April is all that’s needed.
Generally, an RN license alone doesn’t qualify someone for a work visa. A 4-year degree is the baseline requirement, but since a 4-year degree isn’t required to obtain an RN license, USCIS doesn’t consider RN a specialty occupation on its own. However, if you do have a 4-year degree and the position you’re being hired for is a specialty nurse role, it can work.
