10 years ago, I didn’t attend my removal hearing and received a deportation order in absentia. It’s now been more than 10 years since — I’d like to know if there’s any possible way for me to obtain a green card.
I’m now marrying a U.S. citizen and want to keep living in the U.S., so I’d like to know if there’s a path forward.

To pursue relief through your current U.S. citizen spouse, you should file a Motion to Reopen the deportation order you received 20 years ago right now. Since this was an in-absentia deportation order (issued because you didn’t attend the hearing), you may not need the separate consent of the immigration court prosecutor. For reference, if the deportation order had been issued after you did attend the hearing, you would need the prosecutor’s consent through a Joint Motion to Reopen.
