I’d like to know the application process and order of steps for family-based immigration
I’d like to apply for a family-based green card. I’ve looked around, but it’s still confusing.
I’d like to know in detail, step by step, what order the family-based green card process follows.
For family-based green cards, the process begins with the petitioner (a U.S. citizen or green card holder) submitting a petition (I-130) for the family member with USCIS.
If the sponsored family member is in Korea, once USCIS approves the I-130, they apply for an immigrant visa (DS-260) at the U.S. Embassy in Korea to receive the immigrant visa.
If the sponsored family member is in the U.S., once USCIS approves the I-130, they can apply for adjustment of status (I-485) with USCIS to obtain the green card.
