I’m planning to visit Korea for about a year, but haven’t been able to get a Reentry Permit in time.

Realistically, in actual cases, there have been many instances where staying over a year hasn’t caused a problem for the green card. However, considering the recent immigration policy climate and the need to strictly follow the law, we recommend a Reentry Permit for any stay abroad over 6 months. If you don’t have time, you could apply, get fingerprinted, and then either receive the card in Korea, or make a brief visit to get fingerprinted before leaving.
