I’m currently maintaining E-2 status. I’m trying to renew it, but everyone tells me it won’t be easy.
It’s also costly, and someone I know suggested applying for a student visa instead. I still need to keep the business running — do I need to close the business as well?

It would be more accurate to call it ‘applying for student status’ rather than a ‘student visa.’ If you switch to student status, you can no longer work as an employee within that E-2 company, but you can still manage the business — please keep this in mind.
