When obtaining a green card visa or fiancé(e) visa through the U.S. Embassy in Korea, you do need to prepare a criminal record certificate. In other words, this is a required document when processing from Korea. However, this is only needed if there’s a criminal record relevant under immigration law. That said, when changing status to a green card within the U.S., a criminal record certificate is generally not submitted.
