I’m planning to change status to E-2. I’d like to know roughly how much total investment is needed, and whether it becomes harder to get an extension if there’s no profit early on.
I expect it may be difficult in the beginning. I’d also like to know if I’m required to hire an employee.

The required investment for an E-2 visa varies depending on the type of business you’re running. Also, it’s fine not to have profit in the first few years, as long as your business plan is well written.
