Uncontested divorce and citizenship application concerns
Hello, if I go through an uncontested divorce, how many years afterward would I be able to apply for citizenship?
Or, as long as I maintain my green card, can I still apply for citizenship later even after divorcing?
The divorce is planned as an uncontested one due to personality differences.
Divorce and citizenship are unrelated, so once 5 years have passed since obtaining your green card, you can check your U.S. residency period and apply for citizenship. Please keep this in mind.
Ultimately, a citizenship application is decided based on whether you’ve resided in the U.S. for the past 30 months as of the application date.
