What are the eligibility requirements for a fiancé(e) visa (K-1)?
I’m a U.S. citizen about to get married.
I’m trying to file a fiancé(e) visa to send to my fiancée in Korea, and I’d like to know what conditions need to be met.
Is a fiancé(e) visa simply available to anyone who’s planning to marry?
Generally, you need to be able to prove roughly 2 years of a dating relationship, and as long as there’s no criminal record in Korea or any violation of U.S. immigration law, you can obtain the visa by documenting that roughly 2-year relationship. You also both need to be in a position to marry right away. For example, if one party is in the middle of a divorce, that would be a reason you couldn’t marry immediately.
