Whether a past unauthorized employment record could be a problem when marrying a citizen
I hold an F-1 visa and completed my master’s degree last year.
I’m currently meeting a future spouse who is a U.S. citizen and looking into a marriage-based green card.
Here are my questions:
1) I’m currently taking ESL classes to maintain my student status. Could this be an issue?
2) I worked part-time for a few months this year and filed taxes for that. Could this also be an issue?

Answer: No problem.

Answer: Since you’re going through a marriage-based green card process, it’s fine to file taxes, and since you’re planning to marry, you don’t need to worry.
