Whether green card sponsorship is possible while working at a government agency
Hello. After graduating, I found a job, and the employer promised to support the paperwork for a visa or green card application.
The employer is a government agency. I’d like to know if a green card application would be possible in this case.
Since a government agency is essentially a place where civil servants work, and hiring there is determined through civil service hiring regulations and exams, we think this would likely be excluded from green card sponsorship eligibility.
Generally, government agencies or government-operated entities are in a position where they need to protect the domestic labor market, so they typically cannot sponsor a green card. Please keep this in mind.
