Whether I could face any disadvantage for attending an academy/institute online while maintaining I-20
I’m maintaining my student status remotely. In the past, I-20 wasn’t issued for online coursework, but now it is, so I’m comfortably maintaining my status this way.
I’d like to know what kind of disadvantage this could create when I go through employment-based green card immigration.
Starting in the second half of 2023, there’s a guideline stating that online coursework used to maintain I-20 will no longer be recognized. So if you’re planning employment-based green card immigration, please switch to in-person coursework right away. Otherwise, this could be raised as an issue during the employment-based green card process and become grounds for denial.
