After changing status to an E-2 employee, do I need to get a new visa if I go back to Korea?

Yes — since you did a change of status and don’t currently hold an E-2 visa stamp for entry, you would need to obtain a new visa through the U.S. embassy. This is unrelated to the fact that your green card application is already filed — you would still need to pass the visa review at the embassy. If you’ve been in the U.S. a long time and are near the final stage of your green card, it would be wise to postpone any trip back until you actually receive your green card, if possible.
