As a green card holder, am I required to report income earned in Korea to the IRS?
I’m a green card holder. Since I now live in Korea and am no longer a U.S. resident, I’d like to know if I’m still required to report income earned in Korea to the IRS. I also have ongoing income from Southeast Asia besides Korea.
U.S. citizens and green card holders are required to report their worldwide income to the IRS, even if they live outside the U.S. and are no longer U.S. residents. This is because the U.S. taxes based on citizenship or green card status, not simply residency.
