    A U.S. citizen’s financial capacity must be at least 125% of the federal poverty guidelines (HHS Poverty Guidelines for Affidavit of Support).

    In other words, if 100% represents the poverty line for a household of one, you need to show financial standing at least 25% above that baseline.
