As a green card holder, whether I can sponsor a spouse whose DACA application was denied, and whether marriage registration is possible
I’m a green card holder.
My girlfriend currently lives in the U.S. but is out of status. She says she immigrated to the U.S. as a child and applied for DACA twice a few years ago, but wasn’t approved either time. I’m considering marrying my girlfriend — if we marry, would she be able to obtain a green card or another lawful status in the U.S.?
Also, I’d like to know if there’s any problem registering the marriage in advance.
Although she is practically out of status, once you, as a green card holder, become a citizen, you could then sponsor your girlfriend for a green card. Marriage registration can happen anytime.
