Can I apply for OPT along with graduating in August without taking a summer term?
I understand that to apply for OPT, you need to have been enrolled full-time for at least 2 semesters. Due to COVID, I took online classes from Korea for the spring semesters two years ago and last year, and completed the fall semester and this spring semester in the U.S. I’d like to know if I can still apply for OPT along with graduating in August, without taking a summer term.
We don’t think OPT eligibility would be denied simply because you didn’t take full-time classes offline due to forced online instruction from COVID-19. When an F-1 holder applies for OPT, whether classes were online isn’t even a question that comes up in the process. If you meet your graduation requirements, go ahead and prepare for OPT alongside your graduation application.
