Can I enter the U.S. on a visitor visa before re-enrolling in school after military service?
I just finished my mandatory military service and am preparing to re-enroll in school, but I’m considering language study in the U.S. instead. First, to enter as quickly as possible, I’m thinking of applying for a visitor visa.
Actually, my parents already went to the U.S. while I was in the military and are currently working at a relative’s home. I’d like to know my chances of obtaining a visitor visa.
In your case, obtaining a student visa would likely be difficult, and a visitor visa wouldn’t be easy either. Since you’re currently on a leave of absence in Korea, have already completed military service, and haven’t yet re-enrolled, you may be seen as having weak ties to Korea. The fact that your parents are currently living in the U.S. would also likely be seen as weakening your ties back home.
