I was denied citizenship again on reconsideration, but for a different reason.
My citizenship application was denied. I then requested reconsideration and had a new interview, but this time they raised an issue that hadn’t been raised before, and denied me again.
Is this actually allowed?
Yes — even a reconsideration review after a citizenship denial is conducted the same way as a brand-new citizenship application. It’s not uncommon to see the new review raise a different issue than what the previous examining officer flagged, and deny the case on that new basis.
