I’d like to know whether my I-864 (affidavit of support) will be accepted

When documenting the sponsor’s income, USCIS asks for the most recent 3 years of income, and you’ll need to submit the most recent tax return. Even if your spouse is currently unemployed, if they have a 2014 tax return showing income, and also worked and filed taxes in 2013 and 2012, and the income meets USCIS’s requirements, this should proceed without major issues. For reference, the financial sponsorship confirmed for an F-1 visa application is entirely separate from the financial sponsorship required for a green card application. If the citizen’s tax returns show sufficient income, the I-864 affidavit of support should pass even without a current job.
