I’m going through an employment-based second-preference (EB-2) green card case, and my I-485 is filed and pending. I have an interview coming up soon, but the company that sponsored my green card let me go after only 3 months, and I’m now running my own business, though I haven’t been filing personal taxes. Would it be fine to bring only the W-2 covering the 3 months I worked at the sponsoring company to the interview? I’m concerned this could negatively affect the interview and lead to a denial.
You should expect questions related to your time working at the sponsoring company. Bring documentation showing that the employer intended to hire you, and evidence proving that you actually worked there (such as tax records).
