I’m a green card holder. Due to the COVID-19 situation, I’d like to stay in Korea for a while.
I’d like to know how many months per year I need to stay in the U.S. to maintain my green card, and what situation I’d be in if I’m out of the U.S. for more than a year.

As a green card holder, you’re generally required to be in the U.S. for at least 6 months per year — beyond that, you’ll face a more rigorous entry inspection. If you can present a reasonable explanation, such as difficulty entering due to COVID, staying under a year should be fine, but if you stay in Korea more than a year, it may be concluded that you no longer intend to reside permanently in the U.S. Be sure to apply for and bring a Reentry Permit with you.
