I’m a green card holder and need to go to Korea for work.
I understand I’ll need to stay in Korea for about 6 months, and I’ve heard that spending more than 6 months abroad within a year can cause a problem upon re-entry — is that right?
If so, I’d like to get a Reentry Permit before I leave — when should I apply?

USCIS generally recommends filing about 3 months in advance, since the fingerprinting appointment date can take up to about 3 months to come through. In some cases the fingerprinting date comes within a month, but the sooner you apply, the better.
