I’m planning to receive my immigrant visa and enter the U.S. I’d like to know the process.
I’d like to know what process I go through to receive my green card after receiving my immigrant visa and entering the U.S. I’d also like to know how it would work if one family member is already in the U.S.
Once you finally receive your immigrant visa and enter the U.S., your green card is delivered to your home — you just wait for it. If a family member is already in the U.S., after I-140 approval, once a certain waiting period passes and the priority date becomes current, that family member can file for adjustment of status (I-485) from within the U.S. After completing the interview, they receive the green card directly rather than an immigrant visa.
