I’m trying to decide between a TN visa and H-1B. What’s the difference?
I believe I can get sponsored for a green card through my sponsoring company.
I’m trying to decide whether I should get a TN visa as a Canadian citizen and work under that, or whether it would be better to apply for H-1B and work under H-1B status.
A TN visa is similar to a work visa (H-1B), but the range of occupations eligible for TN is more limited compared to H-1B. Also, since the prevailing wage tends to be set higher for H-1B, meeting the stricter salary requirements to maintain status is more demanding compared to TN. So if you’re eligible for TN, we’d recommend choosing TN first, and then pursuing employment-based immigration through a green card sponsor afterward.
