I need advice about extending my stay on a B-1/B-2 travel visa.
For various reasons, I entered the U.S. on a travel visa 4 months ago. I’d like to stay in the U.S. longer, so I’m considering extending my travel visa, but people around me tell me travel visa extensions aren’t easy. I’d simply like to stay a bit longer at a relative’s house and continue traveling for a few more months — I’d like to know if it would be difficult to extend for a travel reason that fits the purpose of a travel visa.
A travel visa extension request that simply says you’d like to travel longer has a high chance of denial. So for a travel visa extension, it helps to explain a specific reason tied to a travel itinerary. Preparing a travel plan document with a specific purpose and destinations, and applying for the extension that way, significantly increases the chance of approval. Please keep this in mind.
