I’m worried about re-entry issues if I travel abroad while a green card holder is on probation.
As a green card holder, I made a mistake and received 2 years of probation.
I need to travel to Korea due to my father’s illness — I’d like to know if there could be a problem re-entering after I leave.
Generally, whether you can travel abroad during probation is up to the discretion of the assigned probation officer. You’ll need to separately contact the criminal court handling your case to find out the standards and procedure for permission. It’s also a good idea to obtain a re-entry permit in advance. Since fingerprinting requires filing at least 2 months ahead, please prepare early.
