In a marriage-based case, can the beneficiary also serve as a financial sponsor?
Hello, I’d like to know whether the beneficiary (the person being sponsored) can also serve as a financial sponsor in a marriage-based green card case.
My husband, the petitioner, doesn’t have solid tax records and has weak finances, whereas I, the beneficiary, have assets I can document.
Can I show my own assets and also serve as a financial co-sponsor?
If the petitioner’s assets or tax filings are insufficient and create difficulty in meeting the financial sponsorship requirement, the beneficiary’s own assets can also be used to support the financial sponsorship.
This is generally accepted when submitted as supplementary documentation.
