I’ve paid money for a promised green card sponsorship but haven’t received anything.

I paid $40,000 that was taken from me under the promise of a green card sponsorship. After that, I paid an additional roughly $10,000 for so-called attorney fees. Everything was paid in cash, but I did keep receipts.

I’d like to know if I can sue. Can this also be pursued criminally? I’ve heard many other people have been scammed the same way, so I’d like to take action.
