Odds of re-entering on a J-1 visa after OPT
I’m currently working under OPT after finishing my F-1 student status in the U.S. My goal is to find a job and immigrate to the U.S. permanently, so I’m planning to return to Korea, complete school there, and come back as soon as possible — I’d like to know if there’s a high chance of being rejected at the consular interview for a J-1 Intern visa in this scenario, realistically.
Hello. Most people are approved when planning training through J-1 after OPT, so go ahead and try it. Unless there’s a specific reason for denial, most people get in. However, if the purpose of entry is immigration, and the consulate detects this, the visa will be denied.
Please keep this in mind.
