Possibility of removal proceedings for a green card holder after a DUI
I was driving under the influence and caused an accident. I hit the car in front of me — it wasn’t a severe impact, but the other driver says they’ve been going to the hospital since.
I took a DUI test and was briefly held before being released. I’m currently a green card holder — I’d like to know what kinds of problems could arise.
If it’s confirmed you were driving under the influence and caused physical harm to someone, this is a felony. And since you’re a green card holder rather than a U.S. citizen, if the sentence comes out to 1 year or more, there’s also a risk of removal proceedings. Please be sure to discuss your immigration status with an attorney as you go through this.
