Pursuing a green card starting from an E-2 visa
I’ve heard E-2 visa holders can’t pursue a green card.
If so, I’d like to know if there are cases where someone changes from E-2 status to a different immigrant visa and obtains a green card that way.

As a general rule, E-2 visa holders cannot pursue a green card directly, since E-2 falls under the nonimmigrant visa category.
However:
1. There are many cases of someone changing from E-2 status to a different immigrant category and obtaining a green card that way,
2. Proceeding through the E-2 employer (E-2 enterprise) under employment-based third or second preference, or
3. Obtaining a green card directly as a multinational executive or manager under the first-preference category, without going through the labor certification (PERM) process.
