Question about processing a green card for an out-of-status parent sponsored by a married U.S.-citizen daughter
I still haven’t received my receipt for I-130, so I’m asking here. This is a question about processing my parent’s green card, where I’m out of status and being sponsored by my married U.S.-citizen daughter. I’ve received receipts for I-485 and I-765, and the biometrics appointment related to I-485 was on September 22.
I’d like to know if this is progressing normally, and roughly how much longer I need to wait before I-130 is approved.
Receipt notices are typically received within about 2 to 4 weeks, so you should be getting yours within the next few days. If you don’t receive it within that window, we recommend contacting USCIS to inquire.
For an immediate relative of a U.S. citizen, since there’s no numerical backlog, I-130 approval and I-485 processing move forward together, so you can expect roughly 6 months total until receiving the green card.
