Question about unemployment benefits for an E-2 small-business investor’s spouse
Due to the sudden state-mandated COVID-19 economic shutdown, I’d like to know if the spouse of an E-2 small-business investor, who works under an EAD, can apply for unemployment benefits, and whether that would count as public assistance and cause a problem for their green card later.
If the spouse of an E-2 small-business investor, who has EAD work authorization and has been working, becomes unemployed, receiving EDD unemployment benefits will not affect the E-2 small-business investor visa at all.
