Whether a person who has resided in the U.S. for more than 15 years can take the naturalization test in their native language
I’ve heard that people who are 55 or older and have resided in the U.S. for more than 15 years can take the naturalization test in their native language — is that true? Also, how is that eligibility period calculated? I obtained my green card in September 2010, and this will be my 18th year in the country.
If you are 55 or older and have been a permanent resident in the U.S. for more than 15 years, you may be exempt from the English reading, writing, and speaking test, and you can take the U.S. government/history test in your native language with an interpreter.
