Whether not living together after marriage due to a job issue could cause a problem for the green card process
Hello. We were living together at the time of the marriage-based green card process, but after I changed jobs, we’ve been living separately for now while still visiting each other.
I’d like to know if this could raise suspicion and cause a problem for the green card process. I’ve heard they sometimes suddenly visit the home to investigate — is that true?
Unless something is unusually suspicious, home visits for investigation almost never happen, and explaining that you’re living apart for various reasons after marriage, as you described, should be sufficient. We don’t think USCIS would raise suspicion or ask concerning questions about this.
