C.O.S. denial

Hello.

My family applied to change status from B2 to F1/2 on October 15, 2019, and also filed to extend our B2 status on November 13, 2019. Our I-20’s admission date was October 26, 2019, but since that date had passed, the school automatically deferred it to August 26, 2020. (The school knew we were changing status within the U.S. and deferred it automatically.) Our status expiration date was November 14, 2019, and the outcome notice extended our status through December 9, 2019, but denied the change of status. The stated reason was that we could not maintain lawful status until the admission date.

I’m reaching out because I’m not sure how to proceed if reconsideration is possible.
