My employer told me they’re closing the business after I-485 was filed. Is there any relief available?
I’m going through the I-485 process. The approval is taking a long time, and due to COVID, business has become difficult, so the restaurant owner who employed me says they’re closing the business.
I was working as the head chef — I’d like to know if there’s a way to move to a different job and still save my green card in this situation.

Yes, you can get relief under the AC21 law. Beyond just the employer’s business closing, even if the employer changes, you can change jobs to a different employer. This is only possible once 180 days have passed since I-485 was filed, so if 180 days have passed and you need to change employers, you can get relief as long as the new position is similar — such as another restaurant or chef position.
