I’ve had to be away from the U.S. for a long time for business.
I’d like to know whether, after obtaining a re-entry permit and staying abroad for 2 years, I’ll be able to safely re-enter with absolutely no problems when I return.

Having a Reentry Permit doesn’t mean there’s no chance of being denied entry. Generally, once time abroad exceeds 180 days, a USCIS officer may start to question whether you still intend to reside permanently in the U.S. And if they determine you no longer have that intent, they can place a hold on your green card and refer you to immigration court. So it helps to have tax returns or U.S. real estate ownership as supporting evidence, and to be prepared to explain that your time abroad was unavoidable for business reasons.
