If a conditional green card holder divorces, is the financial sponsor’s obligation released?
I married a U.S. citizen and served as the financial sponsor when she was sponsored for a conditional green card. Due to family circumstances, we’ve since divorced.
I’d like to know if my financial sponsorship obligation, as the citizen who signed as sponsor, also ends because of the divorce.
In other words, when the citizen who provided financial sponsorship divorces, does the sponsor’s obligation end along with it?
If the conditional green card holder divorces, the former husband who served as the financial sponsor still remains obligated. Any joint co-sponsors also remain obligated.
