If I filed for a green card and received work authorization, and no longer maintain F-1
I filed for a green card through my citizen child and received work authorization. I received notice from USCIS that I may be exempt from an interview, and that the green card would take about 6 months to issue. I’m currently enrolled in school but would like to stop enrolling next semester and work instead. Is it now fine not to be enrolled in school?
For a green card sponsorship through a citizen’s child, absent a specific issue, the chance of denial is low.
From the point of filing I-485, you’re not considered out of status, but it’s still recommended to maintain lawful status until the green card is actually issued.
