Is my case still valid if my passport number changed during the immigration process?
I’m currently going through the immigration process. In the process of renewing my old passport, my passport number changed, but the previously submitted passport number is what was used on my green card filing.
I’m worried that this mismatch with my current passport number could cause delays or require re-proving something. My attorney hasn’t given me a clear answer, so I’m asking here again.
What matters in principle is whether the passport itself remains valid, regardless of a number change. In other words, as long as the passport has continuously remained valid — then and now — you don’t need to worry even if the passport number has changed.
