Whether a visa entry denial for a sponsored parent could cause a problem for the green card process
As a U.S. citizen, I’d like to sponsor my parents in Korea. My parents have lived in the U.S. before, and now, wanting to live together as soon as possible, I’d like to have them enter beforehand on a travel visa or another visa. I’d like to know if a denial of that travel visa could cause a problem for the parent-sponsorship green card process.
A denial of a travel visa or similar wouldn’t cause a problem for the green card process. If your parents had a period of unlawful presence in the U.S., they would need to go through the process of obtaining an inadmissibility waiver, but as long as there’s no deportation record, they should be able to get their green card without much difficulty.
